Description

The Infectious Diseases Unit (UEI) of the Hospital Reina Sofía de Murcia acts as a multifunctional section in which synergies of collaboration with other sections of the hospital are established. Thus, it serves demands from primary care, emergencies, occupational hazards, preventive medicine, microbiology and other areas both surgical and medical.

In addition, it highlights the activity of nursing, which served 510 patients in 2016 and in the first half of 2017 about 600 patients.

On the other hand, the UEI has a large medical assistance activity of 3227 consultations in 2016.

Currently, UEI is part of the National AIDS Research Network (RIS), collaborating in the design of clinical and basic science studies, as well as in the contribution of clinical and analytical data.

He is also involved in the development and implementation of national and international clinical trials aimed at treating and alleviating such prevalent and transcendent diseases as HIV, Hepatitis C virus, influenza, sepsis, tuberculosis, pneumonia and urinary tract infections.

This Unit is not only strongly committed to research, but also to training as reflected in the list of training courses given in 2016 and the number of master's degree programs during the same period.
